Alternator for S2
Discussion
Just had the 4th emergency service out who checked the battery ( it is dud!)
He also told me that the alternator is throwing out 1v less than it should, then promptly recomended me to get a new one!
Again
Q1 Does this sound right to anyone?
Q2 If so where can i get one(alternator) and what type is it as the description of mine has rubbed/peeled off!
Thanks all for your help, it might be a nice weekend so i am desperate to get this sorted

I bought a reconned alternator from my local Ford dealer who did them in their workshops.
Can't remeber the spec exactly but its the 90 amps one you want for the Granada 2.9 EFI, just tell 'em the engine and they'll sort you out.
There are plenty of places advertising reconned alternators etc. It was about £90 from memory.
If the 4th emergency service is worth his salt he is worth listening to generally as thet tend to know a little bit about motors !
Cheers

I've had alternators do similar things in the past, and it's usually the voltage regulator on the back of the thing. Take it to a car electrics place, (yellow pages) preferably someone who specialises in starters and alternators and they can fix it. The coils never really burn out so after this fix you should be OK.
The last one I had done was about £15 with new regulator, brushes and bearings and fully tested, although I had to take it off and put it back.
