Has anyone else had problems removing seats from an S3C?

I have tried to remove the nuts underneath and due to rust, the nut locks and causes the bolt to slip. Normaly this is not a problem as I would just use stilsons to hold the top of the bolt - but on these seat rails, I cannot get to the top of the bolt !*?! Due to being enclosed withn the seat rail...

Have tried to jam it in place with a screw driver and still not enough pressure to allow the torque required to remove the nut...

Am I going about this completely wrong or has everyone else had a nightmare trying to remove the nuts?

Cheers

On my S1 the problem I had was that I couldn't keep the bolts tight so that the nut could be unscrewed. In the end I used an angle grinder to cut the nut off. I have recently removed the seats from my Chim. This was easier as a locking nut had been used on the other side of the seat runner to the bolt's head.

I had the same problem, - I used a nut splitter but this was a bit slow. I found a dremmel with a cutting blade much quicker.

I replaced with stainless steel but would probably cut them off again, it is simple enough.

Slide the seat out of the way and use an open-ended spanner end-on down onto the top of the bolt head. When the bolt tries to rotate the spanner jams against the side of the runner. Far easier and more effective than trying to jam things down the runners. Pretty sure this is described in Steve Heath's "Bible".

I will give the open ended spanner a go - although I suspect I may have rounded the heads too much to get any grip

If that dont work... I'll attack it with an angle grinder

Had the seats out of my S twice using the method described below.

Have never replaced the bolts or nuts. Just remember to cover them with grease when you put them back in and this help to keep the moisture/crud etc etc of the threads and makes it easier next time.

One thing I did was put some silicon sealant between the washers that go on the outside and the floor of the car to ensure that you get no new water ingress.

Only works on the back bolts however. I think the front are supposed to be captive - mine had already been replaced at some point as the seat had been repositioned.

Still say the dremmel is quickest if not a tad agressive.
