Hi all, when I purchased my first TVR S2 in January this year part of the reason for the good purchase price was due to the dull red paintwork, I purchased a bottle of Starbrite Fibreglass Colour Restorer last month which has helped bring back a glossy shine to the bodywork except for the bonnet which is still very dull and borderline pink/red.
I have tried some liquid G3 compound and tested a small area just below the headlamp which has made an improvement but still not as good as the rest of the car, presumably the bonnet has suffered from the engine heat as well as the sun.

A few years ago I purchased an old 2.8 injection Capri that I restored, I fitted new wings, floor panels etc then resprayed the complete car myself with cellulose paint then with a final rub down with 1200 grit paper and G3 compound the diamond white paint looked fantastic.

I have found a few posts on here regarding dull paint work but they relate to steel bodied cars. Apart from a re-spray has anyone on here had the same problem and found a solution to restoring the colour, is it possible to use a fine wet & dry paper then compound the surface with the G3 as I did with my Capri or is the bonnet colour part of the gelcoat system.

On another note it's my first MOT this Friday, I notice from the large amount of history that came with the car the last MOT cost the owner over £500 so I will have my fingers crossed!!

Just used the Upload an image function but for some reason the photo is not showing here, you have to click onto it then it opens in another window, what did I do wrong? first time I have posted a photo.

Hi swimmer, try the pistonheads detailing and bodywork forum

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&a...

Lots of pros there should help.

They say G3 should only be used on celulose paint, i found that out after using G7 and Tcut, my paintwork looks a lot better though, not sure about the fadeing.

Edit to add,
Some photos might be usfull, for people to decide whats best
