Excuse the not so tech wording - I'm not great mechanically, but trying to get there (too many years of Company cars).

Recently all coolan hoses changed, oil pressure, temp/fan etc all working as should be, but have a small leak - looks like seepage at base of engine - close to bottom of the fan belt - thinking/guessing water pump / seal ?

Would like your input - Am I on the right thought process and if so, is it an easy job to change the waterpump ?

cheers
John

Make sure you know exactly what the problem is before you resort to replacing the water pump. The pump is quite a bit higher up and the usual failure mode is worn seals leading to water leaking from the drain hole under the pump. If you can confirm that's where the water is coming from you need to replace the pump. Until then, don't rule out other causes such as a leaking hose.

Thought I had a problem with water pump leaking - getting a few drops of coolant on crossmember just under water pump, turned out to be leak from hose, see red stain in pic

Double and treble check before replacing pump

If the new hoses are silicon they may well need to be tweeked up a bit; they do slacken off quite a bit when first fitted and need to be retightened maybe a couple of times before they are finally tight so it's worth checking all the hose clamps again before replacing the water pump.

Thanks guys - yes, silicon hoses fitted - I'll go and give a good tighten up and go from there
