Since having a front end rebuild, she now runs okay. A few little faults hear and there but will be ironed out over time I hope.

The biggest problem for me at the moment it the temperature gauge, it's not working now. We havn't touched the gauge itself, could it be the sensor? Where are the sensors on the 2.9 engine? Thanks chaps.

Think this is what you;re looking for, front of inlet manifold just above thermostat housing

Believe it work sby creating an earth, so if cable is put to earth gauge should read hot

You obviously weren't paying attention when you dismantled the engine... oh no, forgot that your mate does the work and you take the credit biggrin

Anyway, the sensor is at the front of the engine under the throttle housing. It is a brass sensor threaded into the alloy inlet manifold. Check that you've fitted the connector, then check that there is zero resistance between the brass sensor and the engine earth. If that is ok then delve into the offside valley where the injector wiring connectors are and there should be a single wire with a spade connector. Check that connector - mine was corroded and almost fell apart.

And hurry up - the summer is almost over...

Its not unusual for the gauge sender to fail - I think there's more than one type - can you take the one of your old engine if required?

Haha, cheers chaps - found a stray wire kind of near the sensor. Had the same connection and popped her in and her presto.

I can now keep an eye on the temperature driving
