The door hinges are fibre glassed on to the body. there are retaining bolts that come through the inside of the door. These can come loose which allows the door to drop. If you are just adjusting the door then take off the door panel and check the nuts. If the hinges are knackered you will have to cut them off and refibre glass new ones on, (not for the faint hearted)
this is a skilled job! If you dont know how to take the door panel off then say so and I'll let you know.
PS. I presume you havn't got the bible (second edition) by Mr Heath! Worth every penny £29.99.
Good luck mate,

Max,
Just head the plessure on both sides. Quite easy really.
1. Take out the alumin. frame and feed all the cables through into the car.
2. At the top and bottom of the door you have three bolts, the centre one is the hinge bolt that screws into a brass retaining nut glassed into the body. After applying 6ltrs of penetrating oil - undue the centre hinge bolt top and bottom whilst sitting in the car with the car door shut.
3. At this point you have a choice, either remove the two bolts either side of the hinge bolt, or if you are sure the hinge bolts are free from the body, simply open the door and you will see it is free. (be careful here, the hinge bolts are still in the body you risk ripping the brass nut from the car - for that reason if you remove the two nuts either side of the hinge bolt the brcket centre tube and bush can be removed to make sure)
4. If you have an S1, or early S2, the bolts and bush are 8mm and not available. The hinge bracket, a 10 mm bush and new brass bolts are avalable direct from TVR - there is a place in london that stocks them I have their number at work if required.
5. Drill the brass bush with an 8.5 mm drill and then retap with a 10mm thread (this is good fun as the clearence is not good but a battery drill at slow speed with lots of torque does the trick)
6. Refit the hinge with new bush (after drilling out the old ones and fitting the new) into the door leaving the bolst hand tight.
7. Get into the car and put the door into place and shut it. Having someone outside to push the door slight helps this part - fit the centre hinge bolt through the bush and screw into the brass retaining nut being careful not to cross thread. I put some ptfe tape on the threads of the bolt as the tapped thread was not as good fit as the original. Screw the bolt all the home then back off a turn to leave a small gap.
8. Nip up the two bolts either side of each hinge a little. Open the door and check the alignment. After the fine adjustment, tighten the two nuts each side of the top and bottom hinge bolts all the way.
9. Refit cables and allumin. window frame and ajust the stop height.
10. Stand back, light up your cigar and admire your handy work.
Cheers
Alan
