tarting the old girl up a bit for SC7 thought I'd take out the pivot bolts and re-glue some of the vynal around there thats come un stuck. bit aukward to get on bolt heads because of plastic cap things but when I did bolts seem to just keep turning. "The Book" not a lot of help but does mention on early cars bolts go through just fibreglass and a metal pivot on later models, this suggests that there's a nut up there somewhere,(as opposed to a captive nut set in the body tub)getting bit late and dark but couldn't see how you get at them ?

It is not a captive nut, you have to get your arm and the spanner inside the body shell behind the bit of carpet that runs up the side of the seat back - beware the fibreglass shards (wear long sleeves!!!)

If you look carefully about 20mm out over from the pivot bolt head there may be a slot gap in the top surface covered by material, lift it slightly and you can get an open end spanner on the inner nut - this is how I removed mine on Friday. I could also (just) access from the hole in the panel at the side of the seat but this was tricky and I did get some glass fibre shards into me.
