I did the 200 mile or so trip down to Devon last weekend at a reasonably enthusiastic rate and only used about half a tank of petrol. Couldn't believe it - I reckon my brick-like, somewhat overweight 1.6 Focus would have used at least as much fuel to cover it in the same time.
As a bonus I even managed to get my OH into the car which was a step forward after she recently vowed never to step in it again!

To be fair it was absolutely brimmed before we set off and I don't know how linear the fuel gauge is (although it appears to be reliable from what I've seen), but I was gobsmacked. I think that was over 30mpg thanks to cool night air, a reasonably fixed cruising speed and keeping the hood up (to coax the girlfriend in).

Sounds like you need to get it on a rolling road to get it set up properly - obviously something wrong if you're getting 30mpg

Chris - did you come through Dorset at all, as you don't mention it.
Any pics taken in my fair county?
Only on the way through. Actually I tell a lie, I went over to see my grandmother in Lyme at one stage too, so it was parked in Dorset for a bit. Any pics taken in my fair county?

The photos are all Devon though...

Specifically one at home, a couple over at Shute Barton and Shute Common, and a couple on the beach at Axmouth.
