Hi, I've started to get ready for SC09 and could do with touching up a few areas (the odd paint chip) and also a scuff over the rear wheel arch. The problem is apart from knowing its "Grey" I have no idea what "Grey"! Whereabouts on the plate under the bonnet is the colour code and where can you get some touch up paint from. Any ideas?
Look under the bonnet on a plate for 'body code'.
It may start with something like P421-xxxx

There are 2 sets of paint codes - the alternative one may be the most useful as it may list what car your colour is from.
If not I took my code to Halfords and they made some.

Oh - that paint code again....thought it looked familiar.

Have a look at my website - there are a few pics of the car and you'll see that mine isn't that dark a grey and has that paint code. If it looks like yours then you mak be in luck. I picked up some tins of Hycote VW Storm (edit: not Atlas grey as I originally wrote) grey ready mixed paint from my local motor factor for about 3 quid a pop and it is a better paint (doesn't settle out like the Halfords stuff) and much closer match than anything else.
Someone who worked at the factory suspected it was Ford Cougar grey and described it as a b itch to match up. I didn't find any paint of that name so stuck with the VW Atlas grey.
good luck

edit: 10/05/2009 - corrected the Hycote colour.
