Does anyone know what Ford model the 2.9S throttle cable came from? I have the Motorcraft part number from the parts list, but understand that they are no longer made new. I have one on order from TVRCarParts, but I am running out of time to get the car back on the road, so I may try to source one from a breakers.

Thanks

Ford Sierra & Granada 2.9 (manual).

You could also try eBAY (but make sure it is the correct part) or get some new cable for the inner and repair the original.

Thnaks Roy.

Unfortunately my old one is with TVRCarParts as a template. But I'll try a few breakers.

Is that a cable you have off the car?

If so can you give me some measurements - there's a cable manufacturer local to me, I'll get a price.

Chris I've got a square plastic adjuster off an old cable which could be used as a pattern. Also when talking to Adrian@ a little while ago he indicated an interest in getting some made up.

If this goes anywhere count me in for at least one

Im waiting for one from TVR car parts as well.Met Tigrefred at Chatsworth he had a TVR supplied cable that didnt look at all right. They are having problems with the cable supplier I believe.
I took a chance and bought a capri cable slightly different fitting, but it fits, got me to Chatsworth and back and is still working fine its part no FKA1013 and cost me £10.

Chris I would be more than interested if a batch could be made.

cheers
Andy

It's a spare that's in the boot of my car.
Sorry can't measure it as I won't be able to get to it for a few days (holiday).

Andy,

What did you have to do the Capri cable to get it to fit?
And where did you get it from?

I'm getting married in just over a weeks time and need to get the car back on the road and MOT'd before then (hopefully it will pass!)

Cheers

I have made the enquiry - they will get back to me with a price.
They really want an original to copy - is there any chance of borrowing someones throttle cable?

I've sent them Roy C's pics for now for a price - they may be able to work from the pics but if they need a cable I may take you up on that.

Unfortunately my old one went to TVRcarparts cable supplier before Easter as a template - not sure when I'll see it again!

Hi Steve,

The accelarator pedal end comes with a soldered round nipple ,slightly to big for the diameter of the hole at the pedal on mine anyway. You will need to grovel around in the footwell for this.I lightly filed away into a chamfer until it sat snugly in the hole(dont file to much off).
At the bulkhead the Capri cable has a flat plate with a hole for a self tapper, which I have fitted.
The throttle end adjuster plate is smaller than the original and comes with a compression spring.I used a nut and bolt to clamp the adjuster in place and left the compression spring on

Hope the pics help first time Ive tried uploading.

I used Parkers of Syston Leicester Tel 0116 600625 Part No FKA1013.They got mine in within hours.
It really is a temp repair but gets me out and about.

HTH and good luck with the cable, the MOT,and the wedding.

I use a Granada Scorpio V6 cable, this fits without any modifications. I got it at a scrapyard when I went there for a straight-slotted throttle plate, got both for a tenner.
The good thing about the scorpio cable is that it has a sprung part: If you push the pedal deeper after full throttle is reached, the spring compresses, which prevents breaking the cable.

That sounds like a throttle cable from an auto - the last bit of travel activates kickdown on an auto - that cable sounds like a damn good solution.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Neil from TVRCarparts has just phoned to say his supplier has completed the new batch of cables based upon my old one, so hopefully I will have mine in the next couple of days. I will check it fits OK and will post to let everyone know.

Cheers

Steve
