I am thinking of fitting some Imola wheels from a Chimaera to my S3, I know they bolt straight on but what I would like to know is, are the 16" rears going to fit ok with no clearance problems and does it affect the speedo at all? I think the 50 series rear tyres should mean that they will be ok.
Cheers.....Tony..

I tried a set off a mates Chim and rears (16's) fouled the chassis Needing a spacer. Also, the 15's on the front didn't quite look right (too small) IMO.

Later V8S's had Chim (AFAIK) fronts all round....I'd have to check to be sure of size tho.

I have heard that you need to try them as the same wheels will foul on some cars and not on others due to warping of the body moulds as the cars were built and the approximate nature of the chassis build. However I have 17" rimms on mine running 225/45 R17 Eagle F1s on the rear and 215/45 R17s on the front and there is plenty of clearance. My speedo reads slightly low (about 5% but you can work that out via a number of online "tyre selection programmes" from the boy racer alloy wheel suppliers)

Go here to see what mine look like, although there is a bit more space above the drivers side wheels now since I refurbed the suspension, changed the springs and shocks and set the ride height correctly.

BTW mine have got 5mm spacers but they are only there because the wheels have a peugeot offset which is 5mm less than the ford offset so the spacer puts the track width to what the S3 was designed to have and there are no chassis or body fouling problems
