I have just (end of January) acquired my first TVR - a V8S - and although it is really great to drive the temperature gauge drops to about 60 degrees when driving. Before I take it out for a drive, I leave it ticking over on the drive to warm up and sure enough it gets to 90 degrees OK, but as soon as I am off down the road the temperature seems to plummet. The car was serviced in August 2008 and had a new thermostat.

Do any other V8S owners experience this? Is it normal?

Good choice mate,

I have a digital temp gauge which displays approx 68 to 70 at this time of year runs a little hotter in summer but never over 80. The fans cut in at about 70. I think those before me fit a cooler stat replaced the radiator and fit large twin fans and I fit a digital relay to monitor the temp which if needed will over ride the otter switch.

Never had a problem with the set up.

Seems like I best wait till warmer weather arrives and then see how it runs!

Thanks a lot though Pete.

The Bible, page 148 describes the characteristics well.

Mine runs at 70-80 degrees normally. Creeping up to 90-100 in traffic, and up to just under the red if in long heavy or standing traffic in hot weather then dropping away smartly when pace resumes.

Yep - just read page 148. (I haven't had the bible that long). This is definitely encouraging.

Thanks a lot

Thanks for that. Seems like 70 -80 is the norm. I'll check it out again on a warm day.
