Having a go at the mirrors, took the door speaker out and had a rumage round inside the door found an old parking sticker and a piece of red plastic tube 1/2" round and about 12" long.
Any idea what this is for?

Sounds about the right length, but probably not a big enough diameter to give much pleasure to the ladies on this site?

Thinking it must have fallen off something.

Else who ever last had the door trim off just left something random in there.

It is the window guide tube thingy and joins onto the tube on the motor.

See here : http://deadpineapple.net/tvr/diary/2008.php - 3rd pi down shows the guide tube removed from the door and is the bit covered in foam. You can see the red bit tube stiking out of the foam and that bit connects to teh silver tune on the motor mechanism.

Found where the pipe went and it was a bcensoredd to get back on the end of the electric window motor unit. Fitted it back with a couple of tie wraps.
Wondered what the noise was when lowering the window! wink

Oh yeah - forgot to mention that it was a pig to fit. I ended up putting a slot in the tube for about 1" to allow it to slide onto the motor unit. Then I used a small jubilee style clip to hold it on.

The other door was the same. Must be a common fault.
