After a long days blasting my S was getting rather hot, it never normally goes much over the 90 mark but reached the bottom of the red so I pulled over and let it cool down, the fan was running but not sure if it was coming in early enough, I had a slight leak from the rad about 6 months ago but never had anything after, I have yet to check the water but was ok before we went, I was considering a alloy rad as will be doing lots of miles this year hopefully in hot conditions. Does anyone make them for the S? I was thinking was a variable otter switch and a new thermostat. Can anyone recommend someone to supply the parts?
I've been thinking about this since we stopped last night.
There are several factors that can cause an engine to overheat obviously, non of which seemed evident last night.
I would replace the Otter Switch as a matter of course and probably do the Thermo aswell. A nice upgrade is the Tower View Stainless Radiator pipes as they come with the later type screw in Otter Switch which cuts in earlier than the push fit/clamp jobs.
I would flush your system through to make sure it is cleaned out. I did mine last year and it took quite a while before I got clean water through the system.
If it is really crappy then you may want to consider checking the water pump aswell. I replaced mine last year when the bearings went and it was pretty snarled up with crud. All clean and shiny now..
You may just want to check your timing aswell. If this is of then it will cause it to overheat aswell. You will need someone with the reader to plug in to check it for you though.
We are all of to Devon so if you can wait 'til then they'll do it for you down there.
If you need a hand with anything give us a call. Not forgetting that yesterday was a pretty quick day and we never gave the cars much time to sit and cool when we did stop...but saying that, you'll want it sorted ready for the summer. Blinding run out yesterday though !!!

Ok well I did think that maybe I lost some water along the way, even after I stop it got really hot in the traffic, I will have a look into it, don’t really think the timing will be the problem as it was fine on the way there, and we weren’t hanging around then either.
I agree yesterday was great fun, and the trip in the Cerbera was excellent, really surprising what they can do, oh sorry you didn’t get a go did you

I’m having the radiator tested at the weekend, tower view do exchange ones for £211.50 inc.
I also got an adjustable otter switch from Kenlowe, it was £35.13 inc vat and delivery apparently it is adjustable from 60-110 degrees, next is a new thermostat then hopefully that should sort it out.
