The electric boot release on my S3 gave up today - I've managed to shut the boot but now, obviously, it won't open. I've read "The Bible" to find out how to release the catch manually but won't be able to work on it until next weekend.I'm not too knowledgeable on the electrical side of TVR maintenance so does anyone know how to test the relay / solenoid to see where the fault lies, or does anyone else have any ideas (apart from checking the fuse - if I can find it)

Thanks in advance

Andy

Does it click when you press the button still?

If so, it could be that the gass strut has gone.

There's no clicking whatsoever Dave, I've checked that the wires are still on the back of the switch but that's about as far as I have got .

My boot wouldn't open about 5 months ago, after reading the bible I managed to get at the little bit of wire and open it. I then discovered that the connector, from the solenoid to the release mechanism, had come undone, all it needed was tightening up with a screwdriver. Check that it is fastened properly!

Sadly, done it all.Caught my foot on the switch cable which was dangling down, ended up by sawing of the bottom half of the switch (well glued in)to get it out and fed a new s/w with flying leads into the loom.
More recently the solenoid was reluctant to work and eventually packed up.Getting at it was fun,the wiring connections are above the drivers side rear light cluster, the solenoid (MO301) UKP 12.50 OK to fit but the holes in the bodywork are oversize require a lot of fiddling to get just right. Good Luck!!
