Fixed but nervous
Discussion
Got her going again, it was the fuse for the coil and rev counter (as far as I can tell from the bible). I hard wired the ignition wiring and it still blew a 15amp fuse with everything switched on, heater, lights, wipers. I have now upgraded the fuse rating to 25A. This should be OK, or am I wrong to assume this? Oddly enough it wasn't the yellow connector, but look at the state of it, I'm sure it wasn't helping. Could it be to do with the crystal lights that have just been fitted? I just used the bulbs that came with them.

Has any one found a good connector replacement for it?
Halfords sell a 4-way connector in their audio section - that's what I used. Some people have simply soldered the wires straight together - much better electrically but a pain if you have to remove the steering column (which you won't do often, admittedly)

where is this connector - I think I need to look at it
Take off the lower shroud on the steering column - the connector is between the ignition switch and the rest of the wiring loom, just under the column there. Gassing Station | S Series | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
