one week in and started collecting bits
Discussion
I am in the process of removing the body to sort out the bent chassis but in the meantime I've been busy on fleabay -
24v cossy motor along with 2.8 flywheel and cossy clutch (80k miles and sounds sweet - heard it running yesterday) and a granny LSD all purchased.
New headlight to replace the broken one - now need the bowl and surounds
4 pots arrived this morning and the 283mm discs are on the way.
I removed the diff out of the S on Thursday night - what an absolute pig - all bar one drive shaft flange bolt came out - that one bent 2 splined bits before a third did the job with a breaker bar. Then the diff casing - again all bar one easily came out but the lower offside front is impossible to get at - so then undid the diff cradle which allowed the bolt head to be got at - socket several extensions then a breaker bar and a 4ft scaffold tube and a LOT of effort and the bolt undid with a bang. And to cap it all the diff then fell on my finger which has gone a loverly purple colour.
Oh the joys of working on old cars

Hi Mate
I like the idea of the 24V myself.. and am very interested in any issues you need to resolve as you go on.
Is is a BOB or BOA motor...? what are you going to do about fuel pump, and exhaust manifolds..?
Also are you going to run the Ford ECU or go for an after market item..?
Hope it goes smoothly also very interested to see if the head or bulkhead nead modifying to make it fit and what type of engine mounts you fit.
Are you going to lighten the flywheel..?
Cheers
Damian

Hi damian
apparently this is a common upgrade
It is best to use a BOA as the BOB has additional wiring to do with the auto box and security and is a pain to fit - although it is slightly more powerfull.
Rally Design engine mounts -cheap but good
Standard (if they fit) exhaust manifolds - if not then expensive tubular ones
standard Ford ecu as I'll be happy with approx 200bhp to start with
the engine does fit with little or no body mods (tight at the rear of the head but nothing an angle grinder can't cure
2.8 flywheel as it is much lighter than the 2.9
sierra cossy clutch - may go for a paddle type
sierra 2WD 4 pot calipers and 283mm grooved discs Mintex 1144 or 1155 pads
not sure about what I'm going to do with the rear brakes

Just noticed this on ebay.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110354423136
Chassis looks reasonably good in pic, though hard to tell. Just thought Id point it out!
