Seemd quite straight forward, decided to remove seat belts first, upper bolts came out no trouble, the bolts holding the stalks ditto, THEN i tried to remove the drivers side reel mounting three hours later its off BUT I had to get a nut splitter (eyes watering) to do so, THEN tried to remove the final mounting on the sill, cant get it to move at all, is it a captive nut? How can I get it undone, any ideas please

It sounds like it is like mine was - see the little shop of horrors at www.gbsportscar.com

You are right it is a captive nut but when rusted the bush, bolt, nut and mount all become one. I got a breaker bar on mine and ripped the mount off the outrigger!!! I then ground off the top of the bolt and pushed the bolt, mount etc outwards away from the bodyshell. There really is no-other way.

The pics will be worth a thousand words here though

Agreed, One of my bolts was a real pig. My best ring spanner snapped under the load. Loads of plus gas eventually got it to move. At least I know the bracket on the outrigger is sound!
