So you might not guess from the title but my car let me down a couple of weeks ago.
Or at least I think it did , you see the fuel gauge has never been that keen to play and I usually have a good idea whats in the tank and for some reason the gauge kicks into life after a few miles and I can relax. On this occasion I hadn't used that car much due to salt on the road so was in two minds about topping up, I was running late so I didn't.
As I went round the first roundabout only a few hundred yards from home the car cut out, no coughing or spluttering just dead, I tried to open the boot, nothing. I tried to start her again - I could not hear the pump prime but she turned over.
So although I was thinking fuel it seemed the electrics were not right. Mrs Mycroft towed me home and i left the car to contemplate its misdemeanor.
Later in the day I topped up the gas and turned it over again, I still couldn't hear the pump.
After three tries suddenly the pump spun up and she fired up.
I had a spin up the road but could smell burning. I put her in the garage, disconnected the battery and there she sits.
She might have run out of gas but I suspect electrics, I did have the yellow block failure a few years ago and have never checked out the temporary repair .
I was reluctant to post just in case I have run out of gas.
If that turns out to be the case i am prepared for the flak I will get yes

I am still puzzled why the boot wouldn't open when the car stopped.
Any ideas, car electrics scare me a bit.

The thing is its far to COLD to go out and have a look at her .

Although , This is my longest post for about three year because my boiler has packed up mad
I am sitting by an electric oil filled rad in the kitchen , its the only warm place in the house and i don't want to move .
My new boiler is 7-10 days away and we have snow coming , given how things have been going in the last couple of years it will probably be the coldest Feb on record rolleyes

And just to put the boot in some chap walking his dog when the car stopped chimed up " oh its a TVR there always breaking down " shoot

If its just as cold in the house you have no excuse biglaugh having changed the oil on mine today and been for a spin I agree fully with the cold comment - I was frozen by the time I came in. Feel for you with the boiler though, my hot water tank lifted a relief on new years eve 13 months ago and flooded the downstairs, including the boiler that was directly below the tank, it was the coldest first week in January I can remember - I as glad to go to work yikes
