Taxed the car online this morning and then took her out for the first time this year - she hadn't been touched for 3 weeks turned over and started first time. Forgot how awesome it is. The new shocks on the back and polybushes on the front make a huge difference (thanks Derek at absolutely shocks and Neil at TVRCarparts). Dartmoor was empty as I went out just after 9 so got plenty of fast corners, low gear runs and overtaking manoeuvres. It was bcensoredy cold though so now need some driving gloves.

Will have to get it properly set up though as there is a slight pull to the left, but now its taxed I can drive it to the garage for proper geometry checks.

Off to change the oil in the cold - fully prep for the summer!!!

Dartmoor? Is there a suitable emoticon to depict insane jealously... I grew up more or less in that neck of the woods and despite doing over 100 miles of very carefully selected roads yesterday (where I currently live) I only came across two that would even have registered back in Devon. frown

Glad you had a good one though. Must have been a bit cold! I had two fleeces and a jacket on just for Hertfordshire.

Don't you still have to display a tax disc though? I thought failure to display was an offence for which you'd get a fine.

I'm not sure on this one but I print the electronic receipt from DVLA and put it in the tax disc holder til the disc arrives. As, with the 1st of the month being on a Sunday, it is impossible to buy a disc from SORN in advance I would think the cop would cut you some slack as you can prove it has been taxed, got to be stopped as well first - I wasn't leaving it parked anywhere and of course the number plate recognition cameras recognise the online renewal.

Mine is SORN and I was thinking of going out today - trouble is that the counties Police HQ is at the end of the road.

Been digging around and there is a grace period but it refers to already licensed vehicles. I guess it won't be a problem though.
http://www.dvla.gov.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/2...

Anyway, the weather solved that problem - it is now snowing.

Edit:
Found this:
http://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/information/I... which says this :
"It will be legal for motorists to drive or keep their vehicle on a public road without a current tax disc, for the first five working days of any month. This exemption from displaying a tax disc applies only when an application for a new disc has been made before the previous one has expired."

I got some from a local cycling shop - they're warm and, importantly, they have a grippy material on them so are safe to drive in wink

Mine has never been displayed..!

In the Glovebox, under lock and key. Inside its disc holder.
Was stuck to the screen, but after hearing about discs being stolen from Convertibles, and it costing £20 or so to get a replacement... Its been locked away.

I've never been bothered by the rozzers, was at Virginia Waters when they were there checking cars over..
Nothing said..

If you do drive around with the ruth on, then I suppose displaying the disc is OK.
