On M40 s/bound Oxford area tonight I passed a BRG S series with foreign (silver out of black) rear plate - Channel Islands maybe ? I had to look fairly hard as I guessed it was a tiv as I approached as the back plate was so poorly lit hehe

Looked lovely though from what I glimpsed thumbup Oz split rims, the lot - thought for a minute somebody had nicked mine......hehe Anybody on here ?

I was driving the Freelander frown Then again Liverpool & back at 520 odd miles is a bit of a schlapp.

I was out with the TVRCC at one of our local indie dealers last Sunday and a number of the cars he had were sold and waiting delivery - to people from Europe - he said because of the £/Euro rate they are now so cheap that there is nothing like them for value if you are Euro currency based so hope all the S's don't finish up there as they are even cheaper!! Maybe the saviour of the S is that it isn't the easiest to get them registered overseas although some have succeeded.

Same here, although mine's a Chim and bought two years ago when the pount was still close to 1.5 euro...

scratchchin That £7995 Cerbie in the classifieds is looking darn attractive now (problem is it would probably be 3x the price after I've imported and sorted it here)...

It doesn't have to be that much? BPM is written off after 100 months, so there's only rest BPM (+/-1% of the value when new), and the cost for importing, less than 1k Euro. Just do it, you know you want it...

Um, I know but my £6K Chim turned into a £14K one (at last year's exchange rate wink ) before I was done with it - and then I only paid the parts cost for the engine rebuild. I don't expect a 10-15 year old secondhand car of any provenance to be 100% reliable and useable, let alone a very specialist one.

The folks who don't understand this are mostly the same that shout 'TVRs are cr*p' at any and every occasion. They're most empathically not, but long-term trying to run something with Ferrari performance at a Dacia budget will end in tears...

Realistically, an RV8 TVR is about the height of what I can afford to run properly - a Cerbie or later S6-engined car would probably end up SORN most of the time and then I'd need another banger to get me around when not on the road for business/commuting...

You're probably right, Eric. With the S I've never had any really expensive repairs while it has proven reliable, but the S is basically a sierra with some specialist parts. The RV8 models are still largely based on standard ford/rover parts, but Cerbie and later models will be a whole different story, costwise.
Still, a Cerbera with damaged engine, together with a yank V8, would make a fantastic project...
