I'm thought it over a while and think it's best to day goodbye for now. I need a TVR which is more suitable for everyday use in bumpy roads (Isle of Wight lol), I just wrote off my daily drive on some ice (yeah yeah what a plonker) so I'm thinking of having a Chimaera as my main car.

How are the S's selling at the moment, I've had mine of a week or so and it's had no interest. May have to bring the price down, what do you think? Could I advertise it better?

If I sell, I'll buy another S one day.

Looking at the rear wheel and that impact just behind the front wheel looks like you were lucky - glad you're OK.
The car is only a bit of tin that can be replaced.

Greetings.....couldn't help but notice your for sale and was very surprised but s**t happens and glad you got out of the Beemer in one piece. I think your car looks a bit...."priced to sell" shall we say.

If I didn't have one already, i'd be getting the ferry over. Might be worthwhile (if at all possible), waiting till Feb/march and sticking a grand on the asking price....it looks way too good to give away.

Hahaha. Yeah I was lucky. The car is a lovely one, I can't believe there's no interest so far. Well, it's just before xmas ain't it? And because it's on the Isle of Wight...

PS I'm coming to S club heaven next year in a TVR no matter what.

Well someone has to make sure the grass is greener our side!
I have no plans for a Chim - I need to get the car I have in one piece!

So...has anybody seen much depreciation the last few months? I'd say S's are holding their value better than most other TVRs.

Lukas,

Sorry to hear your news but at least YOU are ok.....

I had a Chimaera as my everyday car (after my 1st S2, before my 2nd S2 wobble ) and they are completely different cars. I loved the Chimaera for everyday but as weekend toy the S wins for me everytime. Is there no way of keeping the S and compromising a bit on the daily hack?

Whatever, good luck with the search/decision smile

I'll miss the S to bits. Believe me. I'm just trying to see my accident as a opportunity and fancy my toy to be more refined (island roads are dreadful) and faster. I'm not getting a Chimaera/Griffith until spring so we got some time to think it over.

If I could justify having two TVRs, I'd have a Cerbera and an S because the Chimaera to me at the moment is too close to an S so there little point. I also would like more boot space. But I still may spend a bit more on doing the S3 up next year and getting another BMW as the daily, or a tally old runabout and a Chimaera for both a weekend thing and daily in the summer...

Bloomin eck mate - just checked the classifieds and seen the price.....
Someone could buy it, hang on to it until the Spring and then sell it for a profit!! I'd seriously say keep it keep it keep it at that price and buy a cheap hatch for work, even if it's just to get you to Spring next year. A cheap hatch will not depreciate much and your S will be worth more by then.

BTW My 1st S2 was my everyday car and we did 50,000 in 4.5 years together .........with only 1 spin!!

Having said the above I appreciate it's not my £'s or choice, I can only go on my experience wink

Mmmmmmmmm maybe you're right. I just can't believe nobodies interested at the moment. Are you sure to hang on by spring? With this recession, if things don't pick up prices are going to fall even lower. But maybe you're right.

Supply and demand affect any prices..... Demand for luxuries/toys will be impacted over the next year and prices will certainly fall. They will reach a point when prices drop so low (as yours seems to be!) that people will decide not to sell and stick with whatever they've got (be it a TV, car etc) a bit longer. As supply shrinks the people that are still interested in buying (there will always be some, especially if they think they can get a bargain) will be chasing fewer items for sale, hence the prices will start to increase again. It's only my theory, I'll stick with organising S Club 09 rather than running the economy for now wink

I really don't care ( in the nicest way) because there's no way I intend selling mine, I just love driving it, thats why it looks crap, is unpolished, needs a respray etc etc. I just don't have the time to do the niceties, maybe thats also because I do treat the mechanicals as a necessity hehe
However I will be spending some serious money and time on finish to the one being converted to V8, but thats already off the road so I wont lose any driving time there.

I'm a bit gutted your selling now, I've been looking at S's for a couple of years and I'll probably be in a position to buy one in 4/5 months time. Saw your car in the classifieds and it looked perfect, plus I live in Southampton so would have been a doddle to come see it. Wanted an S as my daily drive and I'm fighting the urge to get one too soon.

Don't understand why you haven't had any interest but if you had put it on the market in 5 months time you would definitely had at least one person come knocking.
