S3 Onwards Centre Console Illumination

Since I did the body off last winter my centre console switches have not illuminated when the lights are on (except the cigarette lighter and radio)and I thought it was just a blown bulb in the light source thingy, but finally took apart the console again today and the light source thingy is working fine and supplying light to the back of the switches via the light tubes.

I am now not entirely sure they were lit before the body off and wondered whether it is me re-assembling the panel wrong or whether they never lit due to the mounting arrangement (as the metal support bracket that the switches fit in appears to be what blocks the light).

Do yours light? Can anyone help with where I may have gone wrong? A picture of the switches in the metal bracket with the front fascia removed would be great to help me see where I've gone wrong on re-assembly (if I have).

If you have the rectangular switches this might help: http://www.tvrsseries.com/switchpanelremoval/switc...

My guess is that you may have got the light pipe clips on the wrong way round. Even assembled correctly they ain't very bright, take another look at the bulb before you reassemble, a new one will help a lot if the one you have has blackened even slightly.
