Hi All
Got a ? about steering, I drove an S2 the other week & its steering fealt lighter than my own (only had mine 3wks) mine seems quite light turning into left hand bends-corners, when turning right it feels like its fighting against me a little. Tyres are new as are all ball joints, new Gaz`s & tracking has been done. I read a post on hear from a guy saying he raised his ride height & his steering stoped fighting him (can`t find post now)Does any one have any ideas what it might be ?

Could be the geometry (small changes to camber can have a significant impact on the steering feel), it could also be a steering column UJ. When they fail they tend to get stiff in certain positions so the steering feels uneven as you go from lock to lock. The upper UJ usually suffers the most, but either could cause the problem.

How much difference is there?
Remember the camber of the road will lean left for drainage - so you've already got a bit of help turning left, when turning right you're against it to begin with.
Does it run straight with your hands off the wheel?
Not taken my hands off wheel, however it does not feel like it wants to pull in either direction when holding wheel straight, when turning left it imo feels good, when turning right saying on big round abouts it feels as if its trying to pull back to straight position.Remember the camber of the road will lean left for drainage - so you've already got a bit of help turning left, when turning right you're against it to begin with.

The steering should be trying to straighten whichever way you're turning, but I assume you mean it feels like a lot more when turning right. Have you check the tyre pressures and condition? Then get the geometry checked, whatever the values are make sure they're the same on both sides. Then check the suspension bushes and make sure the springs on all four corners are intact and correctly seated in the spring seats. If you have adjustable spring seats make sure they're symmetrical on both sides of the car.Gassing Station | S Series | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
