Rev counter bounce

Got an early S3 and I've noticed the rev counter at around 2600/2800 rpm bounces about 400 rpm either way. Just above or below its fine. Not sure if its a normal tvr oddity or a sign somethings going wrong.
Whilst I'm on here, the radios lost power as well. Is there a seperate fuse built into the cars fuse box or just the after market back of the radio job?
Had a look at the fuse box last night but it was getting to dark. Amazed by the quality of the wiring, took the footwell cover off and it all came out in a big mess

Ah you got one of the nice tidy ones then!Check out the yellow connector in the steering column first - it causes all sorts of electrical strange goings on when it starts to melt.

Seen that on a poor running forum. The car did hessistate a couple of times the other day put that down to the amount of rain i was going through or fuel starvation. Had an ignition connecter fault on the westy only found it after replacing most of the ignition system.

Great site you've set up there.That burning on one of the pins is exactly what happened to the westy causing all sorts of problems.
Will have a look tomorrow evening

removing this connector and hard wiring cured all sorts of very odd electrical issues with the instruments the best being to speeedo beating time with the flashers and while I cant be completly sure as I never noted the voltage before the fix I think there has been an increase showing on the voltmeter of about 1.5 volts

See you had problems with the radio, I too had problems at the the beginning of the year, due to storing the car away from home, alarm went off, flattened battery, charged it, everything fine, except for the radio! Checked fuses all was well, still could not get the radio to work. Took the car to alarm specialists, Carl Baker (Car and Bike Installations) to check out the problem while getting the new speakers fitted. Please give him a call and ask him what he did to get it working. I can't remember exactly what it was. But it WAS something very simple. I'm sure it wasn't anything to do with the fuses. For your reference in the future, I do believe the radio is connected via two sets of fuses, one from the main fuse board and I believe the radio has a fuse at the back of the system. As for the rev needle bouncing, I found that it did it 'now and again' I put it down to 'typically TVR!' Interesting - about the car misbehaving after the great rainful. Was the car left outside without the cover? I have NEVER had that problem, even in all that rain (in November) two years ago at the London Thunder event when it 'hammered down' all afternoon, it was no problem. Otherwise hope all is well with the car, time for mine soon to be covered in the barn, however, hoping to get it cleaned, painted and later waxoiled in the next couple of months. - All the best - Paul / Marz92

Just had a look at the ignition connector and it seems fine.
Paul I have just rang Carl and he says the fuses are quite easily blown on the radio so will have to have a better look. Best to wait till the weekend as i can't see a thing in the footwell and can hardly open the doors whilst its in the garage.
