Just finished a full Hammerite and Waxoyling of the V8S and would describe the chassis as A1 perfect condition! However, the chassis looked so much nicer with only the Smoothrite red finish. The Waxoyl has accessed the nooks and crannies that I couldnt reach with the smoothrite and a brush. Some of the hammerite has overspilled from the top of the outriggers like candle wax,is it best just to leave it alone or take away ny wax runs and spray these bits again? What do you guys think?
Simba,
How may people look under your car on a regular basis ???
I had the same dilemna when I did my chassis, just using Smoothrite and the bits I couldn't get too. In the end I settled with the job I had done on the basis that I was not preparing a concourse car, I use it everyday, the bits that aren't covered are OK and the bits of paint that were a little untidy would still do the job and if anyone has half a brain they will realise that you have done a job which is beneficial to the car.
It does come down to a matter of pride in your work though that only you can answer/live with...
Cheers

Johno, I have a full size pit in built into the garage floor and go under the car at some point nearly every day! Sad git I hear you say. Getting access to the full underside of the car is generally no problem whatsoever(apart from the top of the out riggers!) However, its a learning eperience, I know what cauesed the waxoyl to slitter down like candle wax. It wasn`t warm enough when I applied it to that area of the chassis, however a kettle full more of boiling water produced a fine spray over the rest of the chassis.Lastly, your right, I think I`ll just take the slitters off on the underside of the chassis and do it again a wee bit better this time! EB.
Simba,
You're a lucky bugger. The tales I can tell of stripping my chassis under axle stands would make your hair curl !!!
In fact some of the remains of this operation managed to manifest themselves in one of my Dad's polishing rags and let me scratach the S with it at the weekend..... !!!!
