I bought my S in May but a variety of work commitments and mechanical problems has meant that up until yesterday I hadn't had the chance to meet with other TVR owners.
I joined the Bristol TVRCC 'Chasing Dragons' run when they come over the bridge for a blast up through mid-Wales. There were about 35 or so in total, three of which were S's.
It's hard to describe the feeling I got when I saw the car park at Magor services - my face just cracked into a huge grin and I KNEW I'd made the right choice. I was welcomed by a few from the South Wales club who'd arrived early and I felt right at home - not something a normally shy type like me experiences.
Then the Bristol club poured in, handed out the maps and we were off.....
looks and waves from other drivers, people standing at the side of the road trying to figure out where the noise was coming from, a rear view mirror full of Aston Martin grille for twenty miles or so and the sight of thirty odd TIV's streaming down through the bends into Brecon.
My only regert was not having someone in the car to share it with - SWMBO has had two shoulder op's lately and can't take the subtleties of the S suspension just yet!

Driving to the meet at the services and going through Brynglas tunnels with half a dozen Harley's - I honestly could not hear a peep from my exhaust such was the roar from those boys! I found out later there was an event called Hogging The Bridge, a big charity run with 3000+ bikes in convoy over the old severn bridge.
Now all I have to do is find out where the rainwater is coming in.........

Good to hear you are enjoying the S; they are good fun and nice to listen to as well. Where abouts do you think the rain is getting in? Dripping on feet/on head/on parcel shelf, etc?? That should help us to narrow it down a bit.

Agreed, some of these leaks are a right pain to track down. Jim
I spent 2 hours yesterday putting silicon sealer around wiper spindles, and wiring / throttle grommets, neoprene foam over the bonnet catches, etc etc trying to stop water dripping onto my right anke when it rains. I'll find out tomorrow if it worked - 200 miles planned!
ETA Don't really care if my ankle gets wet - the rest of the car makes up for it - I've had mine for 5 years and I still love every drive in it!

Re. the water.... It can take ages to track down where the water is coming in - where you notice it and where it got in are usually 2 very different places! May help to sit in the car while someone outside uses a watering can or hosepipe to spray water so you can try and find the source.

Thanks for the tips gents.
The water was pouring in through the wiring grommets, the small u-clips that support the brake pipe and the expansion tank bolts. I took all of the bolts/grommets/clips out and sealed them with clear silicone. The next place was the speedo cable so I cut, and sealed a grommet there too.
I've sprayed the the hood and roof panels with a garden hose and they are watertight.
All that appears to remain is a small drip from somewhere above the steering column and some seepage from the lower front door seals on both sides.
It doesn't seem to leak when standing on my drive, so I'm guessing the water is being forced in when driving. I'm planning on shining a big torch up in the footwell to see if light shows up any more places that may not be sealed.
The previous owner had a layer of foam and two layers of good quality underlay glued in the footwells but I had to cut it out because it never fully dried out and had begun to smell very damp. Now I have bare fibreglass and pull the drain grommet if it gets wet.
All in all these are minor problems compared to the major fun to be had!!

Glad to hear that you have managed to sort out some of the leaks. Re the door seals - and all the other similar ones as well (eg round the hood panels, etc)- I find it helps to give the seals a spray with some silicon lubricant every now and then. This helps to keep the seals a bit more supple so they seal better. The silicon lubricant is as mentioned on another post also good for the window runners and so on.
