Fitting New Fuel Hose

Hi - bit of technical help please.

Having removed my fuel hose (due to leak - see photo for problem )



I now need to attach a new hose to the pump - see picture - unfortunately I cannot get the new hose on. Can anyone advise me whether there is a 'knack' or 'trade secret' to getting the new hose on .

Make sure the inside of the new hose is clean cut and not damaged from previous attempts to fit it. Also make sure the end of the spigot is clean with no sharp edges. Make sure the hose is the right size - it should only be very slightly stretched to fit. You can soften the end of the hose by dunking it in boiling water for a few minutes. Make sure you don't burn yourself on it afterwards. Put the hose on the spigot at a slight angle so that half of it drops on easily, then push endways and turn while straightening the hose to bring it into line with the spigot.

Put a little smear of vaseline on the pump union and that will help no end in my experience.good Luck
