Having been quite vocal in my dislike for allowing 'specialists' to service my car having had poor experiences with them in the past I am interested in peoples opinions of Peninsula's servicing.

I am going to have them do a 12000 mile service on mine at the start of March as I have no facilities to work on my car at all at the moment and pressures of work are not allowing me to get to do any work on it and it needs some attention.

The reason for it being Peninsula is that I am going down there on their weekend package with 3 friends who are taking another S, a Cerberra and a 450 Wedge for Peninsula to service at the same time. 3 of us are new to Peninsual but the Cerberra has been going down there for the last couple of years and has nothing but full praise for them.

Additionally does anyone know what is involved in a 12000 mile service for a S ??

Anyone had any experiences ???

Cheers

Mark

Have used Peninsula for both service and various jobs on the S, have had no personal problems and always found them more than helpful.
As regards to what is involved in service on the service page of www.henley-tvr.com they have a copy of The official TVR Service schedule which is quite handy.

Was living in Maidstone but now I'm living in a Pub in Greenwich whilst I try to find somewhere a little more permanent.....

It has it's advantages

The only thing that is a problem as described is working on the car !!! Have to travel to Norfolk to use fathers garage if need to do anything more substantial than the norm.

reason I asked is I just had my S3c serviced and mot'd at a very reasonable price at a local garage that is starting to specialize in TVR. His background with the cars is excellent and I must say so was his service (and price). Trouble is its in south wales so thats probably no good to you

Cheers anyway Mike,

I have a friend from the Mid Kent region who takes his Cerberra down there for all it's work. He lives near me and reckons its 3.5hr drive. Thats a large reccomendation in my books.

It's a damn good road down there aswell apparently, which helps.

Mark,

I had a 12000 service in October, they were very thorough and spotted a couple of problems I was not aware of. They will be doing a lot more work for me this year too. 3.5 hours is about right as that's what it took me from Ealing.

John,

As a matter of interest what other problems did they spot and how much were they to have sorted ??

Mark,

A whole lot of things, steering rack, fuel tank cradle, clutch master & slave, engine mountings, distributer, battery clamp, etc. Not cheap but after looking around for prices not bad at all. Nice to have it all sorted out properly!

That's reassuringly comprehensive. My mate assures me they are not rip off merchants and will contact me before staring any work that isn't part of the service. Depending on what they find additional to the service I may do it myself later on .....

I've used them once and would be more than happy to use them again or, even based on my limited experience, to recommend them.

Wow.. just phoned them.. Peter sounds a really nice guy with a good background in decent motors...! A 12,000 mile service is about 1/3 of the cost of other places !! I'll be booking mine in very shortly..

Thanks a lot Mike
Cheers
Matt.
