bring me sunshine
Discussion
Have to admit to only having the roof off once since the new year.
Using the car everyday in London to get to and from work is getting me down in this weather. Can't have the roof and the car is not running well. Doesn't like the cold starts and wet mornings. Its like this every year though.
I'm taking it to Norfolk this weekend to give it some TLC as it deserves it.
You do begin to wonder why you have these cars at this time of year until I get the opportunity to get it onto the open road with the roof off. I'm dreaming of those summer days again. Trips to Zolder and the like...
What's really getting me down is tha fact there is no bike racing going on at the moment and there won't be for a couple of months.
Then I've an excuse to blat up and down the country, up hill and down dale chasing motorbikes can't wait !!!!!

So true guys. Spare a though for me, I've had the V8S since Nov 31st and not had the roof off yet.
In Dec I had a kettle immitation and it was at T V Racetech for a week, new rad, otter switch, inspection etc (thanks Doug at DG) and its been in Worcester for the past two weeks having its other little endearing features sorted out.
God I miss it - wheres that sunshine anyway
Cheers,
JSG.

It is depressing, but if it makes you feel any better I've just come back from 3 days in Sunny Malaga..
...for work reasons, and I never got to see any sun, nor go out of the hotel or office I was at
But.. I did get to have a blat in the S on Tuesday with the roof off made me remember why I wanted one for so long. As like everyone else I'd had enough of poodling around in the bad weather.
Chin up lads, wont be long and the sun will be out.

Drove from Germany to Calais with the lid off on Friday
Got some very funny looks and froze my ears off but it was a lot of fun - even at 130'ish. Couldn't hear the radio though!
I'm going to get a leather flying helmet and a silk scarf
The heavens opened just as I arrived at the Chunnel so had a rapid bit of roof installing to do.
Drove home today, and found a leak in the drivers footwell that I didn't know I had - mind you it was 'persisting' down at the time, and the n/s bonnet catch fell apart (must have been the Belgian roads) but all in all a great run
Cheers

Remembered this thread and had to say that yesterday we had a blinding run out.....
Left North London at 9:30am with roof off and met others in S London, M23 and then Goodwood ending up through Arundel and onto Little Hampton (?) and then a blast back.
ROOF OFF ALL THE WAY !!!! Caught the sun, the lot. Great roads, great bunch of cars....2 S's, 3 Cerberras, 1 450se, MG and a 996...(had to give em a chance)
Got home last night at 8pm with the roof still off through central London.
God damn I love my car. Its February and it was getting a little cold later on but this is why I own a TVR and not a Mundano !!
I hope you all had similar weekends....I know Paul V did as he was with me... Not long and we'll have the summer proper.
Cheers

I b
ought mine in september 2000, had it all through the winter and then my job sent me abroad last march for seven months. (ok, it was somewhere hot, but had to leave the car behind) I returned last October, just in time for the rain (and leaks) to start again! I'm REALLY looking forward to the summer!

Got my top off as well, unfortunatly the cars in the garage and will be for some time. Not going to be ready for the meet either. My garage is like the south pole, even found a couple of penguins at the back. still at least I,m getting on with it. Front ends nearly finnished thank christ!

Have you been before? Whereabouts you staying? I did the trip a few years back with a mate on our motorbikes - some wonderful mountain roads on the way down (or up) - we avoided Paris (at all cost) and the autoroutes (police check your time between the toll stops - no escape for speeding!) The Riviera between Cap Ferrat and Antibes is worth seeing too - especially everyone posing (on foot and in cars!) along the Croisette in Cannes. The coast road to Monte Carlo is also worth a drive - the view on the way back as you approach Nice is memorable! Coincidently, that reminds me of a story regarding the movie about Isadora Duncan years ago (late 60's I think - showing my age now!) starring Vanessa Redgrave - I heard they decided to re-dub the exhaust note of an Alfa rag-top or was it a Bugatti(?) she drove around the Riviera with that of a TVR because it sounded better - don't know if there's any truth in it though?
quote:No they don't. From what I understand they did this for a very short while in the eighties but they don't do it now. We averaged 120-130 between booths and had no problem at all last summer. They do have speed traps occasionally and then they simply radio ahead and stop and fine you at the next booth but they don't time you between booths.
