Air Inlet for heater/ vents

Can anyone think of a reason why the air inlet ducts cant be moved to the wing (ie near where the side indicator lamp is) by using something like the BMW M3 inlets, I am thinking this would get rid of the need for those bloody awfull flexible tubes that have to run to the front of the bonnet.
Or has anyone done anything else to get rid of them?
The ducts on the bonnet could then be redirected to the air filter, or at least in that direction as an option.

I think the pipes are at the front to get some ram effect as you drive along - do you think you would get enough airflow if the inlet was at the side of the car?
If it created a negative pressure effect (I think it might) then it would suck air out of the car not blow it in.

If you are looking for more fresh air may I suggest you remove that black cover thing above your head Sorry about that but I know what you mean those hose's are orrible. The heater just recirculates the air inside the car with no fresh air at all, and I find the fresh air vents always point in the wrong direction anyway. I thought about taking the hose's out and blanking them off, but then what to do with the vents inside the car?

Install mini fish tanks for their soothing effect

You'd have to drive very slowly though so as not to spill the water ...

I would love to be rid of those hoses too Ken. maybe you would need a scoop to retain the ram effect that Chris refers to, or maybe you could install an in-line fan in the duct from the side inlet to the internal air vents to suck the air in instead of the ram effect?... both are listed on the kit car solutions catalogue.
I would be interested to see how this develops...
Oh and Geoff... what do you know about roofs anyway ???
