You can use a belt lubrication spray, but that won't solve the problem if it's the bearing.

Stupid question, but is the belt correctly adjusted and is it the right belt (mine is 1200mm, but they can vary).

I was told by an old motor mechanic that brake fluid is the best solution for belts but watch the paintwork, it is designed to pass through brake hoses etc and it has the right properties to preserve the rubber. Apparently maintains the flexibility of the belt and helps stop aging of the belts.

Sounds dangerous!
I would rather pay a fiver for a new belt than have a respray.

Roy admittedly brake fluid is the most flammable fluid carried in a car but suggest wiping it on with a cloth, only a small amount needed

thanks guys, will give the belt a light spray of WD40, see if it stops it, much appreciated, mark.

Forget the wd40 its a lubricant (the belt will slip more but silently) belt dressing is availble from industrial engineering supplies but as previously said a new belt correctly adjusted quiet as a mouse

Try "BELTGRIP" available from most spares shops.
Check the slack.

You can use brake cleaner spray, available from Halfords. Don't use WD40.

Comma do a belt dressing spray - seems to work ok and not attract dirt, which can be the cause of noisy belts.
