Alternator - is it charging?

when I start my S3 i always have to blip the throttle to get the ignition light to go out, once out it stays out no problem.i've put a meter on it and it's putting out 12+ v but is it failing.?

mine does this aswell as far as i know its normal

This is quite normal on the 2.9 V6 models, it is supposed to do that and not a fault!

Ideally you've just got to be sympathetic to the electrical systems until the engine has warmed up a tad before you "blip"

Any idea why it should get worse? Mine now needs a larger blip to kill the light.

Mine goes out at around 2,000 - 2,500rpm, what about yours??

It was only 1000-1500 now it needs more. It also started sounding like a barking dog as I put it away last night which is a bit of a worry...

I beleieve you have to blip the throttle to 2200 revs before it should go out,as this is when the alternator starts charging as is quite normal due to the circuit fitted in the S3 (see pg 66 of the Bible )
