Power Steering

Has anybody tried fitting an electric power steering motor to an S? I was looking at the Corsa electric motor column and think that the central section might be able to be spliced into the existing column under the bonnet.

I think you might struggle under the bonnet - remember you need clearance for the wheel when you turn corners.
It may fit under the dash though where it is on a corsa.
One of the wedge guys has fitted it successfully (TVRleigh_BBWR).

I have got a chimeara (& same as griff) power steering rack,the geometry is a fraction different to my original rack but I've decided I'm going to try it anyway as it fits on the car with a small mod to the rack mounts.

Has anyone got a V6 S rack off the car - it would be useful to know the distance across the rack to the centres of the INBOARD ball joints, thats the ones under the gaiters, I'll compare it to the chim one I have.

The downside is the racks are £500 - £600 from the breakers, I was really lucky and got one for £100 from a guy that didn't know what it was worth.

Do you still need the IBJ to IBJ dim? I have my rack off & can take the gaiters off later this week and measure for you.

It was just for interest really - as the V8S rack is wider than the V6 one due to the V8's wider track, I was going to compare it to the chim / griff PAS rack and report back to say how far off the geometry was and whether it might be an option for retrofit power steering on the V6.
