Batteries and conditioners

The problems a couple of weeks ago were indeed caused by a faulty new battery. One cell was completely dry apparently. Following replacement, all is well. MoT passed with no problems. Sunny week-end. Bliss.

I am wondering about using a 'conditioner' when I am not using the car much.

What are other people's experiences of these?
Are they worth having?
Are they a DIY fit?
Where would I get one?

I've been using one of these for many years.

Mine is wired up to the battery with a line plug attached to the top side of the o/s wheelarch, so it is easy to connect.

Wouldn't be without it, simple to connect to battery each time I put the car in garage. Not used car much over last year or so but never had a problem with it - would certainly have had some problems without it though....
