Will my S ground out on the Le Shuttle/Channel Tunnel?
Discussion
I'm planning a quick trip to Germany next week and at the back of my mind I seem to recall there were ground clearance problems on Eurotunnel for some low slung cars. Has anyone taken their S on the Shuttle, and were there any problems?
Obviously I could call Eurotunnel, and ask what the minimum clearance is, but this would then mean crawling under the car with a tape measure to ascertain the exact height (Lowth!) of the beast.
Thanks all
Cheers

Did find the tyres were very slippery after driving through the sheep dip thing (and the car in front *had* pulled ahead requiring a bit of a sprint to catch up), also the engine was a bit spluttery requiring lots of right foot to keep it running inside the train. Honest, that's the only reason I was revving it. Lots of echo inside those trains btw.

Thanks both for the input. I've used the tunnel many times but never had the ground clearance of the S to contend with.
Peter I remember the echo from driving my Subaru through - I always wound the windows down early in anticipation of the safety briefing.
Btw, re. Zolder, are you campaigning the V8S anywhere this year? Having read of your various exploits, I thought I'd like to come and have a listen

Definitely doing Zolder again, plus various other track days and a couple of dozen or so sprints. Not long to wait now for the season to start.
Anyone else thinking about coming over to Zolder?

I am definitely going this year. Members of my club region have been going since it started and I was meant to go last year.
The trackday itself is on my birthday this year !!
All I've got to do is quieten down the exhaust and upgrade the brakes a little.
There should be 2 Cerberra's, 2 Wedges, 2 S's going in our convoy.
Cheers

Peter,
I'm living not so far from Zolder and I would like to come at least as a spectator (I saw your dammed fast lap in zolder on the mpg movie). When will "Zolder" actually take place? Does one need to be member of the British tvrcc to join?
Cheers Patrick

Taken the S4 on there without any problems, but like Peter says, try to get on the lower deck.

Actually I didn't say that it was somebody else - I went on the top deck both times with no hint of problems - the ramps are very shallow with no abrupt changes in gradient so not even the remotest danger of grounding out.

I took my Cerbera on the Shuttle last year with no problem - directed to the lower deck. Had a problem when I got to France though. The foot & mouth crisis was in full swing and I managed to get stuck on a bale of disinfected hay the French had spread across the road. Felt a bit of a berk as I had to be dug out by a French operative with a pitch fork!
