S Club from the South West Saturday and Camping

As the title says, planning to go up to S Club Saturday arriving at approx mid day.

The plan so far:

I am going to leave Weston Super Mare at approx. 7.45 - 8am. Driving up the M5.

Stopping at Michael Wood Services for Steve J to join me between 8.15 - 8.30.

Continuing up the M5 and meeting TrickJohn (if me fixes his car!!) at the Gloucester junction.

From there we will continue up the M5 until Junction 9 and then follow the A46 the rest of the way.

Others are more than welcome to join us on the way, it would be great to turn up on mass.

I think you may mean A46 Matt

If you come that way, there are average speed cameras on the 46 a few miles before you hit the big island at Bingha, in Notts and again in the village just before you hit the Newark ring road. Not that you'd go fast of course.

We could meet at the Leicester Forest east Services on the M1. Not sure if I've ever been there, but according to the AA route planner it is on the route we are planning to take?

Hi Guys , I'm travelling up on the Sun morning from Devon so see you on Sunday.
I have found the best route(after many trips to Newark from Devon) is M5, M42/A42 to M1 at J24 which you cross onto the A453 then A52 to Bingham and then onto the A46.
All good fast roads and no Ave speed thingies.
The A453/A52 link to the A46 at Bingham is pretty good.

Hi Bill, sounds a fast route to me. You will go through average speed cameras though, A46 before Newark, a village with a marina in it, 40 mph

The A52 has 3 lots of average speed (SPECS) cameras before you get to the A46 at Bingham - 1 lot on the dual carriageway section (70mph) and the second lot just at the end of the dual carriageway section (60mph) and the third just after the 40mph stretch starting at the top of the hill (60 mph).

Anyone coming up the A46 from Leicester way M1 there is also a set of Average speed cameras on there (60mph) - its on the single carriageway stretch (quite a way from the M1) starting a couple of miles after the end of the dual carriageway. These specs are a long way apart - the second one is at the next set of traffic lights you come to with the petrol station on the right.

As Dave also says there is also a set of specs cameras at Farndon (40mph).

Nottinghamshire like their speed cameras - so be warned!

Farndon, that's the one.

Also, be aware Notts police do tend to enforce speed limits, one of mine team got a ticket for 32 mph (note the tolerance was less than 10%).

If anyone comes off the M1 for some reason at J26 there are loads of SPECS.
