Breakdown Cover

I renewed the insurance in Jan this year thinking that it incl the same recovery service as I had last year. I was looking at some stuff yesterday and discovered to my horror that the cover is separate and for some reason they hadn't renewed it. Whilst I haven't had to use the service for the Tiv as yet it is useful to know I've got the cover so I have contacted the insurer who tells me that they are in process of changing their supplier so can't offer it today but will be able to do so shortly. Hmmm!
I was thinking of maybe Oulton Park for the VSCC meeting this Saturday and then S Club next weekend so I would like to get some cover sorted in case. I've looked at some of the websites but many are picky about older cars which ups the price so not sure where to go on this - any thoughts??

PS Just looked at National Breakdown - they want £70.82 for breakdown and recovery the insurer would be less than half that so I'm a bit peeved!

It seems that my insurer (based at a well known race centre) is also changing its breakdown cover.
The insurance is very cheap, which is great, but it seems as though i will have to look around for breakdown & recovery prices too !

Anyone got any good quotes/cover out there ?

I have breakdown with Britannia rescue http://www.britanniarescue.com/  which is cheap but might be because I'm in the CSMA

I've used britannia rescue in the past for my daily driver - very good service.

Just renewed my insurance to start in a couple of weeks...
Have been with RH Specialist Cars for last year - their renewal quote was £200 inc UK & Euro breakdown
Checked with Hagerty cos I know they're always cheap - quote was £174 exc breakdown. They said they would have breakdown avail by the time my renewal was due but it would be approx £50 extra.
RH Specialist Cars have got my business for another year

Covers me and the missus for all our vehicles.When I paid it was £34, I believe it's now £36.
If you breakdown you can ring the helpline or any (VAT registered) garage for assistance. You pay them and you reclaim the money from Autoaid.
Luckily I've never had to use them but all the reports I've heard have been good.

Make sure its not a 'free' add-on to your bank account!! I'm in the AA as part of the package offered ny lloyds

Panic over! It now transpires that I was covered but the paperwork saying so had not been incl with the certificate, etc. was issued so all is now OK - and a copy of the correct documentation has now been rec'd!!

The Autoaid does sound OK though for future ref.

I'f you've got more than 1 vehicle (2 TVRs?) - try GEM and use the 'payback' option. You're covered as the driver in any of your vehicles and you simply pay for the recovery and then claim the cost back from GEM. Cheapest cover I could find for my circumstances and you get membership of the Guild of Experienced Motorists thrown in. Plus you don't even have to wear a hat in your car and tow a caravan like most of the members

I've gone with the AA as it covers the driver rather than the vehicle.
