The MOT is due next week so I'll be off to Chilham on Pies' recommendation, I'll let you know how we get on,

Well it nearly passed...structurally and mechanically everything was predictably A1, only problem was your trick exhaust Paul.
It seems to have shifted a bit around the nearside manifold, I thought it sounded a bit blowy and noisy(even by GGO standards!) so it's off to our local specialised pipe man in Tenterden. Debating whether to have a couple of cans fitted as the car's volume has attracted some polite but pointed comment in the neighbourhood.
Either way the long range weather forecast for Le Mans is looking good...

Making that car quieter counts as a crime against humanity.OK it'll stay noisy, but having visited my pipe man he's diagnosed a split in the n/s manifold.
So it's either wip it off and attempt a weld or source a replacement manifold (preferred option). There's one s/h on fleabay for £150 ish complete with cat (which I don't need) - do you think I'll beat that ??

Sorry to hear that Bill. The manifolds are the original mild steel ones... the new SS system starts below the manifolds... When the stainless system was built i had two muffler boxes per pipe put on it. If you want to quieten it down slightly remove the polished tail pipes, which from memory are 2 and a half inch and have 2 inch ones welded on. That was a suggestion from the guys who did the exhaust if I felt it was too loud... which I didn't!!
Personally I would see what ACT has as if the manifold is coming off you may as well put on a pair of shiny ss ones... budget permitting of course

He's very busy at the moment (always a good sign!), hence my going for choice 2.
Sorted, a pair of ss ACT manifolds going on order today, well it's my birthday and my wife didn't know what to get me.
Tim's quoting a minimum of 3 weeks for delivery so in the meantime the existing manifold will need a bodge or I still live in the hope of sourcing an original version..
