Rubber Bumper Strips

As some of you may have read in my previous note, I've been having to replace my front indicator lenses after Mr Kwik Fit broke the originals during the mot (it was two weeks ago and my blood pressure has only just returned to normal...)

Thanks to numerous previous posts on here, I've now billed them for Kia Pride replacements which I've now fitted. However, the new lenses have raised another issue. The old indicator lenses used to overlap the rubber bumper trim, the Kia Pride ones do not. Apart from there being an unsightly gap of a centimetre between the edge of the indicators and the rubber strip (where you can see the roughly cut cross-section of the tubing) one of the bumpers is now protruding from it's groove as there's no overlapping lens to hold it in place. Does anyone know if it's possible to buy strips of rubber that can be cut to size? Or failing that, any suggestions on what I can use to stick the rubber back to the bodywork? Some no-nails glue?

Originally these have a metal strip inside with threaded holes or nuts, and the bumper is then bolted from inside the bonnet. The metal strips will have disintegrated after some 15 years, so you'll have to make a new one.

Thanks Clarence, so it's just a case of heading to B&Q for this galvanised strip? What about shaping it to the contour of the car? And once the metal is bolted to the body, what holds the rubber to the metal? Want to make sure I know what I'm doing before I pull the rest of the bumper off!

Mike, the strip slides into the centre of the rubber, pre drill it to match the holes in the rubber then its large self tapping screws or bolts through from behind.
