clutch hydraulic pipes

Slightly puzzled/concerned. On my 88 S1, the pipe from the clutch master cylinder to slave cylinder is one piece copper, there is no flexible section and I cannot see any provision for mounting a flexible section. And yet there is a good deal of movement of the engine relative to the body. Is that how it should be? (My copy of the S series parts catalogue has nothing whatsoever about the clutch system)

Yep... same as mine. not even a loop or two to take up the movement, I was always intending to add a flexi pipe at the Slave Cylinder end but never got around to it, but now Super "S"leuth is on the case I'll watch this one with interest

V8 is the same. Its lasted 15 years though.

ricard when i demolished mine the clutch pipe had 3 tight coils wound into it like a spring when i replaced it i just used a straight pipe

Thanks guys, it looks like a typical bit of TVR sophistication then, no flexible coupling! If it will last 15 years as it is I suspect it will be my children who fix it! Sorry to disappoint you Kevin but I think I will stay undercover on this one, there are more pressing crimes to solve!
