Ok, this is probably a stupid question but having read the bible (SH's Book), and phoned around for ICI Paint Code Matches and been told that I cannot get the paint becuse it is an ISOCYANATE paint and requires forced air breathing for the person doing the spraying, are there off the shelf paint matches that I can use instead. I have an S1.5 in Monza Red, is there an equivalent I get get from Halfords, closest I have been able to find is the the Ford ROSSO RED, but it is not quite orange enough.....Am I resigned to a professional colourmatch and respray!!

The authorities are making paint harder to get, some places around here (Oxfordshire) will not supply anything to the public whilst others will just do colourmatch cans.If you give me the body code from the plate in the engine bay I will see what I can do (how much are you after?)

Cheers

P.S this applies to anyone (send them codes!)

LeeBee you are a star, the code from the engine bay is P420 KV52, which I understand is the Monza or Ferrari Red. I reckon I would need about a litre spray can of it...Stupid question can you get already in an aerosol form or would I need to find a friendly spray bay?

Ok I will call my paint man tomorrow (or the other one if I have no luck, both of which are very familiar with TVR's).I doubt that you will find the colour outside of a specialist paint shop (i.e Halfords) as the colours are a bit tricky to match without knowing exactly what car they were originally for (I have had similar problems with the colour of my car).I will let you know how I get on

Ok finally got through to him, he says he cannot get spray cans but could supply paint by the litre (which could then be taken to your local paint supplier and put into a can), he can also get touch up pens made, unsure of price but if you are still interested I will find out

Lee,

During my phoning around I have found a supplier who has not only agreed to put paint into an aerosol for me, but has sold me the right paint. When I gave him the paint code he came out with the immortal words...Oh that'll be for a TVR then!!! So thanks for your efforts.

Andy

The company has a Head Office in Ipswich. When I spoke to the branch in Norwich I was told the original paint was a two pack paint and could not be supplied in an aerosol, however they would be able to mix me the same colour, in a cellulose paint.

Company is called MOVAC head office numbers are 01473 213763 fax 231621.

Can't find the number for the Norwich Branch!!

400ml aerosol cost £10 for cash!!

Hope this helps.

Davy
