S3C handbrake cable ?

More help needed.

I connected a new handbrake cable to both of the rear wheels and I can not get it anywhere near the handbrake mechanism, I have tried all sorts. I have removed it and put it next to the old one - there is about 120mm difference in outer cable length on the connection that goes between the chassis cable holding bracket and to the RH (offside) rear wheel, otherwise it is all the same - is it me? or would this difference cause this ?.

Are there any idiot proof links or information anywhere on how to change the cable.

Is the adjuster fully loose? I found that even putting the same cable back (it was in good condition) that I struggled to get the connector over the handbrake mechanism and had to full slacken off the adjuster and then re-tighten once fitted. I found the adjuster on mine also rides over the outer sheath and hence can adjust the length of sheathe between the wheels and the adjuster point as well as the length of the cable overall.

May be a different issue of course.
