Powder Coating the Chassis

I rang a local powder coaters today (Link) just as a casual enquiry with my chassis.
I asked if they would give me a ball park figure, saying that it is a multi tube chassis.
To spray in a zinc coating (didn't establish exactly what), and powder coat he said would be in the region of £150.
Bargain I thought.

I've just looked again on their website and I've just spotted that they do what they describe as 'zinc powder coating'. Not sure what this is but sounds interesting.

Very strange, it still doesnt work for me. I used Google to search for them, found them, tried opening it....and it still shows as odd error message. Absolutely no problem with other web pages. Never ever seen that before and I use the web a great deal. Very odd.

To be honest other than their address and a pic of the front of their factory there's nothing to see.

Just had my chim chassis done, £250, Shot blasted, zinc powdered then powder coated over the top. I asked about Hot zinc spray and then powder coating, but the company said that when curing the powder coating it would cause the zinc spray to release some gas which would cause the powder coating to look like the surface of the moon. So they zinc powder it, cure that then powder coat it. Have to say its a brilliant finish. I must get round to taking some pics and posting on the chim forum.

That sounds like an absolute bargain, given the amount of cup wire brushes, sanding discs, rust remedies, primer, paint etc (let alone time and skin!) it would take to do it by hand. I'm not familiar with the process though, do you know if it is spray or dip?
(I must admit I am not a great fan of the hot zinc/galvanising approach, it can be messy and very thick and heavy if not done well.)

I started with the wire brush approach, after many hours I contacted a powder coater, they charged 200 pounds for shot blasting, zinc treating and powder coating, absolute bargain, ditched the wire brush.
I felt that the shot blasting would uncover all the bad points, some that might have been missed during the wire brush treatment, and it did.

Well worth it in my humble opinion
