what to look out for?

i'm going to look at an S3 with a view to buying over the next few days! any major points I should look out for?

Buy Steve Heath's book before you buy ! It will give you everything you need to know about the car and stop you encountering any pitfalls. It really is worth doing before you buy, I didn't and have suffered because of it. It has taken me 18 months to get the car I should have bought in the first place !

Now lovely of course, but that's not the point !

Dont get carried away by your heart, before driving it, get under it and check all the chasis tubes for anything other than surface rust. Check the rear trailing arms in particular. Check for carpet rot as this would be due to leaky roof, although this can be fixed (well, to a degree).

General condition is a better sign than mileage of how its been looked after.
