mine at the moment has new Firestone Firehawks on the back, and Toyo Roadpro R610's on the front.
When I bought the car it had Toyos on the back but found they didn't give much grip on the greasy lanes around me, and they didn't look in the best of condition either, so opted for Firestones on the back.
There was a thread going some time back on the TVR General gassing regarding Toyo tyres, might be worth having a look for it. IIRC they got very mixed reviews with quite a few finding the performance and grip not very good.

Have them on my V8S and find them very good - BUT, replace all 4 and don't make the same mistake as me by only replacing the backs. Really made the handling dangerous via bad tram lining in a striaght line. Replaced the fronts as well and now bedded in, find them very good.
I should find how good or bad the handling is with Toyo's later in the year. I have booked a trip to the 'Ring'!!

I have found the Proxes I've had on the rear of the V8 (since about November I think) to be more squirmy than the S03s they replaced. Will be replacing the front S03s with Proxes this weekend so hoping it will even the handling out.
I would say though that I doubt they've really bedded in properly as the car hasn't seen much use.
I really wish they made S03s still - lovely tyre.

I'm a little undecided about Toyos. I replaced all four Bridgestone SO3s with Toyo Proxes T1-Rs last summer on my V8S as I couldn't get hold of any SO3s. They don't fill me with the same confidence as the SO3s, and have even proved to let go a bit suddenly even with only minor over-zealous right footwork (in their defence this was from standing start, turning right out of a junction, white lines down the centre of the road on a dampish evening). However I make this turn every day leaving the office and the SO3s were always comfortably predictable. Thee Toyos were noticably a bit skittish when new but have improved with age.

Doug,What is the exact size and speed rating you are going for. I can't see any over a V in 15", 205's.

HI coolcatmaz, noticed you have the Firestones on. My everyday car gets driven very hard and it is fitted with those same asymmetric Firestones. It has same tyre size as my S1 and I have had very good results indeed with the Firestones. Just changed the front ones for £55 each fully fitted, balanced, new valves, vat incl. The S1 is on 205's on the original 5 spoke OZ wheels. I was going to go to the Firestones on the S as well. How did you find them?

The Toyos have a softer side wall then the Bridgestones....... try a +2 pounds front and rear over what you had in Bridgestones.......Steve

Bumpety bump.
Done about 400 miles on the ER300s now and they are fantastic. I sorted a lot of other upgrades over the winter including suspension, ARB links and geometry but the tyres really round everything off nicely. The car feels much more planted in the corners and give the confidence to really push on around roundabouts and in the quick corners. The old rubber always made things feel a little vague. This may have been compounded by the crappy old suspension but I always felt a little bit detached and cornering at speed felt a little bit dicey - not dangerously but just a bit disconnected.
Certainly recommended.
Also recommend Topcats for the geometry and help they gave me on the new trailing arms. Thanks Warren and the chaps.
