I am about to put my S1 up for sale. I purchased it two years ago for £8,600 and have had extensive work done on it. Any ideas what I should put it up for as I have seen people desperate to sell and the prices plummet but I can sit and wait as in no rust to sell Thanks Cotty

Chaps. My 4.5 Chim is now 'worth' half of what I bought it for 11 months ago if I tried to trade it in. Would I consider selling a reliable, gorgeous, fast car - would I bollocks! Prices are plummetting at the moment. I suspect - recent new car price decreases, NOT TVR's but anyway...if you see what I mean - the competition is cheaper so...., WINTER - who wants a convertible when its been like it has of late - etc etc. So buy if you're going to buy. Sell if you're going to sell. With any luck this current value drop is a one-off ...that we have just been unlucky to be hit by. Unless you are so BORED of your current motor you just can't - KEEP IT, DRIVE IT, LOVE IT!

Totally agree, although I'm Tiv'less at the moment and I'm looking to buy another in the new year (hopefully) it's a great time for buyers, but Don's right unless you have to, I'd say keep it.

Thanks guys that seems to be the general opinion about all Tivs at the moment. However I will be karting all over the country next year and my S is not the best car to sit on motorways for hours on end. Been looking at BMW 325i touring and looking at the spec the performance is very similar. What I really wanted is a V8 so the S would have had to go anyway. Cheers Paul

It does seem to be the general state of the sports car market. I also own a fully restored/high tuned 1971 MGB GT, and although I always knew the restoration costs (which I was lucky enough to get at trade prices through an Uncle) would always exceed the true value, I'm (hopefully)never going to sell it so it never bothered me. But I've seen the value of the same type/sorted car has been sliced in half. This proberly isn't much help. but at least you may see it's not just TVRs.
