S3 2.9 Throttle cable

Hi all, I came across last night a T350 parked in a layby, I asked if he was alright, he said the car had a with a broken throttle cable. He was going to phone a breakdown service to get towed home.
It made me think, what would I do in the same situation late on a Sunday night.
I need a spare. can anyone tell me what type of cable do I need? Is it a Granada part or a TVR special? Any help Thanks.

It does happen. Mine went en-route to a track day and it also happened when I was a passenger in an S3 at Le mans. The first time I had to bodge a reapair, but the second time we had a spare.

The throttle cable for S2/3/4 2.9 V6 is Motorcraft p/n 6720349 (fits 2.9 Sierra/Granada), but it is now obsolete and Ford dealers don't stock them.

I think someone said in a similar post not too long ago that they had got a cable from TVR Car Parts so could be worth giving Neil a call - 01884 266755 or email is [e-mail] - their website lists one for the 2.9 so let us know how you get on.

PS I'm sat here feeling very smug (and maybe a bit guilty?) as I have a spare one in the boot ..

there's nothing special about them, i just bought a long enough motorbike cable at the motor factors and used one of those barrel screw clamps on the engine end. Can't remember how much but cost very little compared to trying to find the 'correct' thing. Cheap enough to have a spare too.
