Headlight Teaser
Discussion
All,
Car flew throught the MOT no problem and I got it back on Thurs with new steering rack. All's great then. Well no, I got home from my new hideous commuter journey and parked the car as normal and went in. Came out at 11 o'clock that evening on way to pub and (very friendly local bar and noticed that the headlights were on. No other lights at all, just the headlights.
Trudge back to house and get car keys, muttering about delayed alcohol consumption and try to turn them off. Won't turn off. All I can do is pull the Dim Dip Relay to turn them off.
I am getting a consistent power feed through the Dip lights circuit and that circuit only. All the other lights work as normal amd the relay is fine. My next port of call is the Dim/Dip Module, but where is it and what does it look like ???
Anyone else had this problem. Looking at the wiring diagram it appears that it could provide the power without the other systems being effected. Main beam works aswell so it appears there is nothing wrong with the switch/stalk.
Help ?!
Cheers

Have finally found the problem after getting some time over Xmas to have a route around the electrics.
I've been having to remove the relay switch to cut the dip lights off when the ignition is on as they wouldn't turn off.
It has turned out to be the dim/dip module as suspected rather than any other earthing issues. Having pulled the module I have obviously lost the dim/dip function but the lights will now turn off from the switch. Closer inspections of the internals of the module seems to indicate a burnt component, but it's pretty indistinguishable.
Are these modules from the Sierra ???
Cheers

Forgot to mention that once my father (used to dealing with wiring diagrams for airplanes) had poured over the TVR's wiring diagram for an hour or so he then went hunting through the mass of wiring in the footwell. What he found was that the dim/dip module is wired differently to the diagram, with a dtray grey wire dissappearing off into the back of the dashboard.....anyone have any ideas where this goes to ????
