Trailing arm refurb

I'm about to remove my trailing arms, both aren't in too bad condition but have plenty of surface rust, and one of the bushes has failed on the drivers side (another thread).

Anyway what's best to protect them?

I'm going to get them shotblasted - but then what?

My thoughts are

1. Powdercoat them again

2. Get them galvanised - how well does galvanising stand up?

3. Acid etch primer & paint them with hammerite or something.

4. Maybe even a combination, galvanise & then powder coat?

5. Something that I haven't thought of.

All thoughts & wisdom appreciated.

Anyone else thinking of doing this draper do a 3/4 drive socket specifically for removing the hub nut.
It has 6 sides so gets very good grip on the nut faces.

Best send to Adrian Venn, it will cost mind but as these things rust from the inside out you probably wont be seeing the worst.Also he can fit the new bushes for you,i've heard these aren't easy to fit

There's a local company to me who will shotblast, then acid dip , then bake, then Zink coat, then power coat. for about £50 will take 2-3 weeks.

They are in Waltham abbey, but you should be able to find a simular company near you.

I'm going to get them to do my whole chassie. once I get the body off.

Wouldn't mind the details for them if you get a sec. Quite local and handy to know.

This is an option I've considered - though I'm slightly reserved as looking underneath the car it has been stored well for most of its life - there isn't any bad scabby rust anywhere - just general muck & grime & a bit of surface rust accumulated over the last 15 years.

I'll examine them very carefully, just need to get the damn things off first !

Depends on how quick you want them done, as will be getting some bits done next month, and will prob be cheeper to get a lot of small bits done at the same time. and we could get your's and mine done at the same time.

Had a few emails with Adrian, this option is looking like the best option.

Can't recommend Adrian highly enough. Excellent job and quick turnround, and really helpful.

Apparently the V8S has different trailing arms, but Adrian says they can still do them even though they don't have a jig, I think they weld them to something so the geometry isn't affected when the tubes are removed and replaced.

Adrian also does them if you order them through another very well known supplier.

Adrian if you read this thanks for the info today, I just have my daughters birthday to fund first
